Check out today’s tutorial, “Learn After Effects in 20 Minutes” by KriscoartProductions on youtube 🙂 I grabbed a copy of AE, got everything set up, and hopefully I’ll be on my way!
Listening to Shane Ross’ Edit Bay podcast, he mentions in a few episodes that he was an apple tech support specialist before becoming an editor. He originally wanted to be a cinematographer but his skills with apple computers (which avid ran on at the time) caught the attention of a producer, and they stuck him in the edit bay. That got me thinking. Gizmodo’s Sam Biddle wrote a great article (here) analyzing the apple’s genius training handbook. I’m going to start my apple tech training. After all, an artist knows their canvas, and one day the coveted iMac will be my canvas. A very expensive canvas, but a canvas nonetheless.
Signed up for Computer Science 101 on Stanford’s online course website. Best thing about it — it’s absolutely free! Going to learn programming basics and look for other Computers 101 courses I can take.
Handy tools for later use/exploration 🙂

Check out this video. The possibilities for representing digital communications on screen are endless, but I’ve never been a fan of the shot reverse shot.
